The Fascinating History of Los Angeles

Los Angeles is also home to the annual Academy Awards, the Primetime Emmys, the Grammy Awards and many other entertainment industry awards.The history of Los Angeles began in 1781 when 44 settlers from New Spain established a permanent settlement in what is now the center of Los Angeles.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Los Angeles was considered simply “a big town”.
